Meet the people behind the Derek Jarman Pocket Park

On the lookout for a new, relaxing green space in Manchester that helps tackle the effects of climate change? You’re in luck! 🌼

The Derek Jarman Pocket Park at Manchester Art Gallery has been designed and planted by LGBT over 50's from Greater Manchester. The community park is a welcoming, safe and green space which draws inspiration from Derek Jarman’s famous garden in Dungeness, whilst also building on stories about local LGBT communities from across Greater Manchester. Not only is it a beautiful space to relax and reflect, it also contains a number of innovative urban solutions to combat the effects of climate change in the City! The space features a bunch of brilliantly designed sustainable components, such as rain chains, a sedum roof and bespoke planting beds capable of holding 900 litres of rainwater! 🌧️
